It's Hard To Find A Word So Thank You Will Have To Do

THANK YOU

On June 28th starting at 11 a.m. close friends and family of Troy Allen Jeffrey II  showed up at the Rosedale American Legion. A modest registration table was set up, t-shirts organized into sizes, and remembrance bracelets ready to be sold. As anxious loved ones waited, they really weren't sure what to expect. With the community showing a tremendous outpouring of support through, sponsorships and item donations, the day had arrived for The 1st Annual Troy's Slow Ride. Would anyone show? At 11:47 the first participant showed up to register for the ride, followed by several more. The riders were showing up one after another, until a line had formed. Troy's best friend Braden and close friend Megan registered rider after rider, and it became clear that any expectations of people participating in the ride to bring awareness for drivers to slow down, had been surpassed.

From the local businesses that donated, the participants, to those who worked hard getting the word out to riders about the event...Thank you just doesn't seem to convey the appreciation for your support in the 1st Annual Troy's Slow Ride. There was never a moment where someone in the community wasn't offering to help in some way, and this was truly what made the day of the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride" a success.

Thanking each and every person would be an impossible task, but it is important that each and every one of you who rode that day, bought a t-shirt, purchased a raffle ticket, know that your support in this event meant so much.

A Special thanks needs to go out to the following individuals and businesses. Without you there would have been no 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride"

To all the establishments that were stops in the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride": When approached to be stops in the ride and you asked for an estimation on the number of riders to be expected, so that you could staff properly that day, our estimate was WAY underestimated; thirty bikes was the total given to one establishment. The day of the ride there were well over thirty bikes and we had more than thirty riders registered before noon, however as the riders poured into each of your businesses, we were greeted with smiles and warm welcomes. You all promoted the ride, some of you participated, made donations, and helped so much more than you were obligated to.

To The Lucky 13 Saloon, thank you for being the stop on the ride in Troy's hometown. As if promoting the ride and participating in it weren't enough, your donated item for the raffle drawings was one of the coolest prizes being raffled. Thank you so much for everything you did to make The 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride" more than what any of us expected.

To Archies, after a long morning of registering and waiting for the ride to start, your business was where riders headed first. When riders showed up not only were they able to grab a beverage but there was also food that had been brought in for the event. Thank you so much for participation and support that day.

To the 36 Saloon, thank you so much for being a stop on the ride. From your support in promoting the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride" to all the work that went in to you making sure you were prepared for ride participants. You support in the ride meant a lot.

To The Rosedale American Legion, your establishment is where it all began that day. As riders showed up to register and waited for first bike out, the legion employees served drinks and cooked for a crowd of riders that seemed to grow by the minute. Thank you so much for all of your efforts during registration for the ride.

To Harrison's Tavern: Several weeks back the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride" was just a thought in the minds of mourning friends and family feeling compelled to do "something" to prevent this tragedy from happening to another family. Countless nights were spent in your establishment organizing paper work, finalizing details, making fliers, sending emails, making lists....Harrison's Tavern was more like the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride" headquarters, where friends were always there with shoulders to cry on, kind words to say, and support to offer. Thank you, to Jamey Harrison, owner of Harrison's Tavern, you set out donations containers, promoted the event and the sale of all the raffle items, donated all the meat for the pulled pork for the riders dinner, and did  pretty much anything else you could do to help support this event and make it possible and a huge success.

Without the support from each and every one of the the above establishments, word would not have gotten out about the ride and the participation would not have been as great as it was. Thank you again for opening the doors of your business and for all that you did through out the weeks leading up to the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride", and the day of event.

To Triggerhead, thank you so much for donating your time to provide musical entertainment the night of the 1st Annul Troy's ". Not only did you offer to donate your time, you also helped promote the ride, and even contacted the Brazil Times newpaper, who ran the story about the ride on the front page. You rocked the house the night of the 28th allowing riders and participants to cut loose after a long day of riding. Everything you did in support of the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride" was truly appreciated.

To all of the above who sponsored and/or donated items. Words cannot express the appreciation, thanks, and sheer awe of the support and the contributions each and every one of you made to make the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride" possible. The local businesses and retailers who gave monetary donations by the dozens and/or donated wonderful prize items to be raffled off were the back bone of this event. To witness the community rally together in support of the ride was overwhelming. On a daily basis there were new sponsors added to the list and new items being donated for raffle. Originally eighteen packets for sponsor/donation requests were made up, those were gone in less than 24 hours, with new businesses and retailers wanting to participate each day. The evening of the ride, prior to the raffles starting, the tables were filled with items that excited participants all wanted to win. The turn out for the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride" is a perfect example of what can happen when people come together. Thank you again for all that you did.

TO ALL OF THE RIDERS OF THE 1ST ANNUAL TROY'S "SLOW RIDE"

To those who turned out to ride the afternoon of June 28th for the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride": some of your were Troy's relatives, some of you were close friends, and there were many of you who may have never been blessed to meet Troy. None the less at 1.p.m. that day we all became a family of riders, riding for a cause. Many times throughout the ride that day, our large numbers and orange shirts drew attention from motorists on the road. We drove quite a distance that day all enjoying the weather and making it SAFELY from destination to destination. That the was the goal of the 1st Annual Troy's "Slow Ride", draw attention...slow down...get there safely. Through your participation and how word of the ride had and still is spreading on Facebook, the riding family that we were that day helped accomplish what Troy's family and friends wanted to do, which was to make an effort to prevent another family from suffering the same kind of loss. You don't know how much the participation of each rider meant to Troy's family and friends. This is not the kind off event you hope to get to participate in. Words like "benefit" and "memorial" typically mean that a life has been lost, and in this case it was the life of a truly amazing young man that touched the lives of so many. Thank you for coming out to ride, thank you for your support, it meant the world, and see you next year for the 2nd Annual Troy's "Slow Ride".
